A draft 2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan providing an overview of natural hazards, summarizing past hazard events, and presenting potential future actions to minimize impacts on life and property is available for public review from March 12 through April 11, 2018. The Plan can be accessed through the City of Huntsville’s Neighborhood Resources page, or at www.HuntsvilleTX.gov/2018HazardMitigationPlan, as well in a hard copy form available at City Hall located at 1212 Avenue M, Huntsville, Texas, 77340.
An approved and adopted plan is a requirement for the City to remain eligible for future hazard mitigation grant funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Following public comment, the Plan will be reviewed by the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) with subsequent review from FEMA. Once approved, it will be presented for adoption by the City granting eligibility for future grant applications.
