The Sam Houston Memorial Museum is dedicated to General Sam Houston. It occupies 18 acres of the original farm owned by Sam Houston from 1847-1858.
The current complex contains 10 buildings divided between areas of natural woodland and historic buildings such as the Woodland Home and Steamboat House. The museum Offers the "Touch Of Texas, " an experiential learning center for children.
The Texas prison Museum offers an insight into the lives of prisoners. The museum features numerous exhibits detailing the history of the Texas prison system, both from the point of view of the inmates well as the men and women who worked within the prison walls.
The museum offers a look back at the Texas Death Row at the Ellis unit in 1979 and Texas's first prison.
HEARTS Veterans Museum is dedicated to honor and recognize all men and women who have served our country. HEARTS (Helping Every American Remember Through Serving) Museum is a place for military memorabilia, personal stories, artifacts the history of past wars to remember Americas Veterans and their sacrifices. Veterans themselves conduct tours and convey their personal experiences. A great quality of this museum is that volunteers send out care packages to our wounded soldiers out over sea.
